Chalk Paint Furniture White Light Blue Dresser Nautical

I have a confession to make.  Blue is my favorite color.  It has been for years now.  And I just can't stop painting furniture blue.

I'm actually surprised looking at my furniture portfolio that there isn't MORE blue painted furniture.  But I do have a variety of shades and pieces to share with you, so you can see them in action.  I don't think you can go wrong with any of these colors.

Haint Blue

Let's start with the lightest blue and work our way to the darkest.  Haint Blue is a beautiful light blue that reminds me of the sky on a clear sunny day.  Light blue painted furniture is not just for little boy's rooms either, as you can see on this secretary desk.

I originally painted this dresser in a beige color called Putty, but when that didn't sell I repainted it Haint blue. You can read all about the dresser makeover and about making and using appliques on furniture.

Before I get too far, here is where you can find these gorgeous blues!

Custom Pale Blue

I created this lovely pale blue color in the Dixie Belle Color Lab.  It's a mixture of 30% Blueberry and 70% Sawmill Gravy.

Savannah Mist

I painted this jewelry box in a base of Savannah Mist, and then washed it with Gold Digger and Steel Magnolia.  It's such a soft pretty color!

Vintage Duck Egg

This blue is a lovely gray-blue that's easy to blend with neutrals and earth tones in your decor.  Here I have used it with no waxes or tints, and just a little distressing.  But you could achieve all kinds of looks with different topcoats and techniques.  You can read more about this trash to treasure table here.

This French country dresser is painted in Vintage Duck Egg, with Sea Glass in the drawer insets.  A great color match to the Distressed Damask decoupage paper!

Dusty Blue

This gorgeous piece by Vintage Revialized makes me want to paint everything Dusty Blue!

Blueberry

Blueberry has a special place in my heart because it's a periwinkle color just like I chose for my bridesmaids dresses years ago.  It's perfect for a little girl's room like this headboard, but could also be more sophisticated with wax or glaze.

Dixie Belle Blue

Ahhhh, my favorite of favorites, turquoise blue.  I used white wax and dark wax to achieve the shading on this dresser.  One of the first projects I posted about on this blog, you can learn about this easy peasy technique in this Dixie dresser post.

The Gulf

The Gulf leans a little blue-green.  You can really see the vibrancy and saturated color of this turquoise blue shade on this cabinet by From Drab to Fab.

Pure Ocean

Pure Ocean is just a bit darker than The Gulf, but still bright and bold.  This painted blue dresser from Vintage Thistle is really giving me those tropical vibes.

Peacock

I love Peacock so much I painted my front door in it!  That's Sea Glass on the island and table base, and Driftwood Gray on the cabinets.

But here's a better picture of how it will look on an adorable table by Breath of Life Design.

Mermaid Tail

Mermaid Tail is a rich jewel-toned teal that I used on the drawer of this cute black farmhouse table.  It would make a great combo with The Gulf as a highlight shade too.

Cobalt Blue

Cobalt is the bright beautiful blue at the bottom of this blended wardrobe.  It blends beautifully with Dusty Blue too!

Stormy Seas

These accent tables used both Dusty Blue and Stormy Seas in combination with waxes and metallics to achieve this look.

Antebellum Blue

This antique desk is sophisticated and classy in this dark teal shade.

Yankee Blue

Yankee Blue is more subdued than Cobalt, but not as dark as Bunker Hill Blue or In the Navy.

How cute is this dresser for a little boy's room by Painted Barn Vintiques?

Bunker Hill Blue

This color leans toward cobalt blue, but isn't too bright.  This desk was a doozy!  Moving it, painting it, delivering it.  It was all a huge undertaking.  You can read about the adventures with this executive desk here.

On this console table, you can see how well Bunker Hill Blue pairs with Moonshine Metallic Gold Digger.  The stencil adds texture and interest as well.

In the Navy

Sometimes simple is best, so here I paired classic navy blue with a classic straight-lined dresser, and finished it off with a little rose gold bling.  This is such a gorgeous true shade of navy blue chalk paint.

Here is another navy blue painted furniture piece – this mid-century modern dresser. It is similar to the MCM credenza above, but I used In the Navy and a brown glaze over the gold metallic stencil.  I love the variation and character the glaze added.

Midnight Sky

As you can tell by the name, this one is a blue-black color, like the night sky.  I painted this pair of dressers, and added copper knobs and cup pulls for a modern farmhouse look.  This project pre-dated the blog, so this picture will have to tell the story.

Silk Serenity

The Silk All-in-One paint line features 6 blues, many similar to colors in the Chalk Mineral Paint line.  The great thing about these, though, is they have the primer and top coat built right in!

Serenity is just that – a calm and soothing blue.  It's beautiful alone, or as a base for stencils, transfers and gold like this French-style dresser.

Silk Tide Pool

The blue you see in the insets and stencils of this sideboard are Tide Pool.  It makes a crisp modern color combination with Black Sands.

Silk Harbor

Such a beautiful watery blue, Connie at Faff Designs shows it off perfectly on this dresser.

Silk Cape Current

Tracey from Tracey's Fancy shares how she got this amazing aged look using Cape Current on her mediterranean armoire.

Silk Nautical

This blue painted dresser from Do Dodson Designs is classic and great for a masculine piece.

Silk Deep Sea

I had fun creating this clean modern-looking dresser with Deep Sea and some silkscreen stencils.

More Blue Painted Furniture

Just for fun, here are a couple more blue pieces.  This faux marble table has In the Navy as the base, and various metallics including Pacific on top.

These cute little bombays started with Stormy Seas, and then got a layer of Hurricane Gray and black glaze.
